Boat Rocker Records,
is a small, independent, Christian record label based out of the greater Seattle Washington area. We are proud to be a part of the JC Music Connection network and a sister company to Project Won Studios and the secular label, Right Cut Records.
With our first release in March of 2015, we are ever growing with several titles now released and available to the public and more than a dozen other albums in the production line-up.
Right Cut Records,
was born out of a need to provide a home for a number of artists producing quality, clean, but secular music at Project Won Studios. Prior to establishing the new label, these artists were referred to other labels or remained independent. That was until one of our advisers suggested we start a secular label, especially since a number of our artists were producing both Christian and secular material. And so, in the fall of 2016 Right Cut Records officially came into being with the first release that November.
BOTH Labels,
aside from the difference in content and slight variation of marketing methods, both labels operate the same. Our first and foremost goal is to operate in such a way that truly seeks the best interests of our artists. And yet, it is important to note that we are NOT a capital funding label! All artists signed under either or both labels are required to fund the needed capital to have their music recorded, manufactured, promoted and distributed. As a label we handle all the post-production details and initially function as the artist’s manager and publisher as well. From A-Z we take care all of the marketing, business administration, taxes and legal functions, allowing our artists to mainly focus on their music and a reasonable amount of self-promotion, while still receiving the vast majority of all revenue generated in most cases!
At this point we are remaining very exclusive by very carefully selecting artists that have recorded their albums at Project Won Studios or have been introduced to us by our industry colleagues and mentors. So, while we aren’t outright refusing submissions from independent artists or other studios, it is safe to say that at this time we are not currently “looking” for artists outside of our own network. Please note that all unsolicited material sent to us for our consideration will not be returned and has no guarantee of review!

Boat Rocker Records – refers to Jesus Christ. In His time spent among us in the flesh, He was considered a man of radical and unconventional thought and action. In other words, wasn’t afraid to “rock the boat”! He challenged the status quo and religious dogma of those who would use “religion” to be more self-serving rather than truly serve God’s children and give God the glory. Likewise, Boat Rocker Records purposes to be a “radical” and unconventional alternative in the record industry. We seek to be a label that is TRULY focused on what is best for our artists and we aren’t afraid to go against the status quo of our industry. This is because we believe that by doing what is best for our artists, we better equip and enable them to be better musicians, better servants to their audience, and better people that will reflect the nature of God in all that they do.
Right Cut Records - the name refers to acknowledgement that there are right choices to be made in life and there is a need to make a "cut" or separation from negative and harmful things, while not minimizing the fact that sometimes avoiding the tough things in life isn't so easy. It is a musical platform to speak of things from a point-of-view that is realistic and sometimes dark while keeping hope for a positive outcome alive. It is a venue for expression to and for those that may or may not have a religious foundation, and yet not speak against it. It may serve as a bridge, an open door, or the tunnel in which at the end is a light!
Project Won Studios – is a full service recording studio and one of our sister companies. The word “Won” refers to Jesus Christ’s victory on the cross, having defeated sin and death and provided a way for anyone and everyone who believes in Him to receive the free gift of salvation and eternal life. Christ’s “project” is the work being done for His kingdom on the hearts and souls of every human on the planet with ears to hear. The studio’s project is their client’s music, but very often are one and the same in purpose. It is with hope that the Christian music produced will win over the hearts and minds of those who hear it so that, whether they already know the Lord or not, they may draw closer and come to know Him more! That said, not all the music the studio records is religious in nature, but ALL is clean in both language and context! All clients are well aware of what – or rather who – the studio stands for. From the environment of the facility, to the behavior of the staff and the practices that govern how the studio operates, Project Won Studios serves as a witness for Christ and as a striking alternative to what many artists might otherwise experience in the typical recording studio.
JC Music Connection – is our parent company and it should be no surprise that the “JC” stands for Jesus Christ and because it is His organization, the entire network is purposed to serve as a ministry first and a business second. That’s the reason the studio records only clean, family friendly music. That’s the reason the interests of their label’s artists are sought above their own, especially when doing so might better serve the greater kingdom of God!
